What is a Dug or Bored Well?

Hand-dug wells are often very old wells that collect water from shallow depths. Bored wells are constructed according to similar principals but are made with machines. Watch the video for details on the construction of these wells and the special issues associated with them.

Wells in bedrock aquifers are typically drilled, with an open length of borehole to collect water. This video describes the basic construction of bedrock wells and explains how they get water.
